We now have 4 doctors available to accommodate all your occupational health needs. This includes:-

• Pre-employment and Coal Board Medicals
• Work fitness assessments
• Workplace injury management
• On-site Health Clinics
• Rehabilitation and return to work/suitable duties plans
• Risk Assessments
• Hazardous substance and health surveillance
• Urine Drug screening/Alcohol breath testing

Two of our doctors are registered as Nominated Medical Advisors with the Department of Mines and Resources and they are:-

• Dr Steven Sornachalam, MBChB, heads our Occupational Health Team comprising 2 doctors and 3 Occupational Health nurses. He is a Senior Registrar in the Australian Faculty of Occupational Medicine and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health from Monash University.
• Dr Yan Perumal, MBChB, Master FAM-MED, FRACGP. Cert. Derm (Monash) is a highly experienced doctor is currently gaining extra qualifications in Occupational Health.
• Our 3 Occupational Health Nurses hold accreditation certificates as testers for urine drug screening and alcohol breath testing.

» Emergency & After Hours

Our doctors work with other practices to provide emergency care at the Mater Private After Hours Service (4965 5444) when surgeries are closed. No private medical insurance required but a fee is charged. Mackay Base Hospital provides a free after hours service for emergencies.
