Don't Skip Your Regular GP Health Check!

Even in the time of coronavirus, you must keep up to date with your regular health checks.

The pandemic has created a lot of anxiety around whether it’s okay to go to your general practitioner for something that might, at first glance, feel trivial in comparison. Your health should always be your number one priority; even if your concern is completely unrelated to coronavirus, it still deserves to be checked out.

To book an appointment with one of the experienced GP’s, please give us a call on 07 4951 1411 or book online.

Mackay GP’s Are Still Safe!

Though there is still a strong focus on coronavirus in the national consciousness (and for good reason), it can be easy to forget that there are plenty of other conditions that still require attention.

Unfortunately, illnesses of all kinds can still develop and have developed over the past year, and in many cases, people have dismissed them as relatively unimportant.

Whether or not you have been feeling Corona Virus symptoms, and have been putting off a visit due to not wanting to take time or resources away from coronavirus, then you owe it to yourself to get checked out.

Mackay GP’s Are Still Safe!

Given that people with coronavirus symptoms can end up passing through a general practice before they get treatment, there have been some concerns over the past year as to whether they are safe.

It makes sense to be worried about the chance of catching it, but ALL Australian GPs are fully compliant with the relevant health and safety standards in place across the region – masks will be worn, and distance MUST be maintained where possible.

It is important that visitors to the practice also still follow the guidelines when applicable. If they do so, then we can promise that there will be no additional risk to themselves or others. To save you an additional visit to book your appointment, you can book by
calling 07 4951 1411 or booking online.

Mental Health Awareness & Support

Black Dog Institute reported "25% to 33% of the community experiencing high levels of worry and anxiety", and this can be attributed to the increased social isolation, combined with fear of catching coronavirus, or financial uncertainty due to lost jobs.

There is only so much that video calls and exercise can help with, however, and you may have an undiagnosed mental health condition (such as anxiety or depression) that now needs treating.

There will never be any shame in seeking help for this, and it is always better to do so as soon as possible; ways of life changed, and not everyone can bounce back from that easily. Please don't hesitate to
reach out to the caring and understanding team.

Ultimately, your health is important and needs to be treated as such, be it physical or mental. It might feel a bit scary at first to get the assistance you need after so long, but having a regular check-up can be a huge help. Please don’t put off your health.
